Attorneys Experienced in Whistle Blower Claims and Other Employment Law Matters

Employment law covers a complex network of laws and regulations that control how employers must treat employees, former employees, and applicants for employment. Yearout & Traylor, P.C. has attorneys with substantial experience in whistle blower claims and other complex, large-scale employment law matters.

In our firm’s 20 years of existence, our employment law attorneys have been involved in hundreds of trials. We have the knowledge and resources to interpret and construe court decisions, state statutes, and federal statutes in areas such as:

  • Whistle blower claims (Qui Tam)
  • Employment discrimination,
  • Affirmative action,
  • Employee benefits,
  • Wrongful discharge allegations,
  • Employment contracts,
  • Medicare fraud
  • The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA),
  • The Federal Employer's Liability Act,
  • The Occupational Safety and Health Acts (OSHA),
  • Special laws governing municipal employment.

Our home state of Alabama is an “at-will state,” meaning that an employer has a right to let an employee go with or without cause. However, there are still many restrictions on employee termination and other employee-employer matters many of which involve the federal statutes listed above.

A large part of our attorneys’ work in employment law is in protecting whistle blowers in what are called “Qui tam claims.” “Qui tam” is Latin for “who as well,” and refers to the fact that Qui Tam claims are collaborations between the government and private citizens against companies that have violated the law. The private citizen in a Qui Tam suit, typically known as a whistle blower, is entitled to a percentage of the recovery.
