Review reveals drug use as a problem in hospitals

A recent review of the USA TODAY revealed that an alarming number of medical practitioners are dependent on drugs.

Reports estimate that roughly 103,000 hospital staff members nationwide are addicted to prescription drugs. The review revealed that, in some instances, physicians work while under the influence.

Thousands of patients’ lives are in danger to medical practitioners who use drugs. The former chief nurse anesthetist at Philadelphia’s Fox Chase Cancer Center, Art Zwerling, suggested that doctors and other medical staff undergo unsystematic toxicology tests.

People who are under the care of impaired medical staff can suffer from serious injuries.
