Birmingham’s fire departments battled six separate fires throughout last night and early this morning. Fortunately, the fires resulted in no injuries, but they are under investigation.
The first of the fires occurred at 8:30 p.m. at 133 57th Street North and was contained to a single room. The string of fires, all residential, ended with a 7:26 a.m. blaze at 2901 Ensley Avenue.
It is unknown whether the fires are related. Battalion Chief C.W. Mardis believes that there is a chance that some of the later fires might be arson and urges anyone who has information to call the Birmingham Fire Prevention Bureau at 205.250.7540.
