Mother and son die in Birmingham crash

On Saturday morning in the early hours, a mother and her son lost their lives in a Birmingham car accident.

The 28-year-old woman was driving with her two sons, ages 5 and 2, when she lost control of her Chevrolet Tahoe on Woodward. Her vehicle struck a stop sign, causing the car to fold in half. The woman and her 5-year-old son died at the scene of the accident. The 2-year-old boy only suffered minor injuries in the crash, and was treated at a local hospital and released.

According to police investigating the crash, the woman was traveling at an accelerated speed before she lost control of her vehicle. Witnesses say that another large vehicle was on the same road as the mother of two driving fast, and once the crash occurred that vehicle continued driving north. Police are trying to locate the second vehicle in order to learn more about the causes behind the accident.

Our thoughts are with the victims’ family and friends as they cope with this tragedy.
