A 47-year-old Wedowee volunteer firefighter was critically injured after he struck a dog while operating his motorcycle on U.S. 431.
The accident took place last Tuesday night. The man was on his way to work when he was unable to move out of the way of a canine near a convenience store. The man became airborne as a result of the incident. Police arrived on the scene and transported the motorcyclist to a Birmingham hospital to be treated.
A driver behind the motorcyclist witnessed the collision, and was able to help the man. His doctors have stated that he is expected to recover from his injuries.
