Alabama tornado injures 100 people and kills 2

Over 100 people were injured and two were killed on Monday morning when a tornado came through Oak Grove, Alabama and surrounding towns near Birmingham.

Homes were flattened, roofs ripped off, and windows shattered over night on Monday.  Oak Grove was hit hard in April of 2011 when almost 240 people were killed during tornadoes.

Fire crews are searching throughout Alabama for people trapped in their homes.  According to Yasamie Richardson of the Alabama Emergency Management Agency stated, “Some roads are impassable, there are a number of county roads where you have either debris down, trees down, damage from homes.”

Residual weather such as hail and severe winds was felt in Arkansas, Mississippi, Tennessee, and Illinois.
