Over 8K pounds of salmon recalled due to possible contamination

The Vita Food Product company has announced the recall of over 8,000 pounds of salmon when it was found that it could be contaminated with listeria.

The company recently announced the voluntary recall of the 4-ounce Vita Classic Premium Sliced Smoke Atlantic Nova Salmon, but there have been no confirmed illnesses because of the contamination at this time.

The product was sold in Publix stores in Atlanta, Florida, Georgia South Carolina and Tennessee as well as Meijer stores in the Midwest. The “sell by” date on the recalled product is Dec. 15, 2011.
