Nearly $2.2 million awarded in Georiga medical malpractice case

A medical malpractice case that was filed in the Jefferson County Circuit Court has settled with a $2.2 million settlement.

The lawsuit was against a doctor at the Baptist Montclair Hospital and claimed that a patient, that had back surgery in 2005, sought treatment for severe complications. The complications were in a bundle of nerve endings in the man’s spinal column.

The pain was originally dismissed by the surgeon and was cast off as normal post-operative pain. The condition was left untreated and caused sensory issues with his bowels, bladder, lower extremities and reproductive system.
