Man arrested for New Year’s Eve hit-and-run

A man from Prattville has been arrested after allegedly fleeing the scene after striking and killing a man on December 31.

According to a report, the incident occurred on Highway 14 and the man in question first told investigators that he thought he hit a deer.

Witness reports then gave investigators probable cause to believe that he knew that he hit a person. The 24-year-old driver struck and killed a 44-year-old man. He is currently being held in Elmore County Jail on a $30,000 bond.
